Registration

  • The Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony is an invitation-only event. To confirm your attendance, please RSVP using the link provided in your invitation email. If you cannot locate your invitation, feel free to email us at awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org.

  • There is no fee to attend Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony.

  • A travel allowance will be provided to contribute to the travel costs. More information on how to claim the travel allowance will be shared after registering.

    Accommodation and meals will be offered during the duration of the event.

  • We appreciate your interest in bringing a guest to the event. However, due to limited venue capacity bringing a guest is not possible.

  • Please email awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org by 31 August 2026 if you can no longer attend Frontiers Planet Prize Award Ceremony.

Venue

  • The Frontiers Planet Prize scientific programe will take place on Sunday, 17 January, starting in the afternoon until the morning of Monday 18 January at the Adula Hotel, Flims (Via Sorts Sut 3, 7018 Flims, Switzerland).

    The Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony will be held in the afternoon on Monday, 18 January, at the Schweizerhof Hotel, during the Frontiers Science House 2027 (Promenade 50, 7270 Davos, Switzerland).

    For participants’ convenience, transport will be organised between Flims and Davos.

    Please note that due to the WEF being held at the same time in Davos, the travel time between Flims and Davos may be substantially longer than normal (approx. 2.5 hours).

Travel

  • The travel allowance is based on the location you are traveling from. The amounts are as follow:

    - Participants from Switzerland = 150 USD

    - Participants from Europe = 450 USD

    - Participants from Middle East / Africa = 1000 USD

    - Participants from Americas = 1,500 USD

    - Participants from Asia and Pacific = 2,000 USD

    In the case of cancellation after the allowance has been paid, Frontiers Planet Prize will require a full refund.

  • We recommend booking a flight to Zurich Airport.

  • Getting to Hotel Adula (Flims) from Zurich Airport

    Total journey time is approximately 2.5–3 hours. You will need to take a train to Chur, followed by a bus to Flims.

    1. Zurich Airport → Train Station

    Follow signs inside the airport for ‘Bahnhof / Train Station’. It is located inside the terminal (5–10 min walk). Buy your tickets online at www.sbb.ch/en or at ticket machines.

    Select destination: Chur.

    3. Route: Zurich Airport → Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB) → Chur

    Zurich Airport → Zurich HB: ~10–15 min

    Zurich HB → Chur: ~1h 15–1h 30 (direct trains every 30 min)

    4. Chur → Flims

    At Chur station, follow signs to PostAuto / Bus.

    Bus 81 direction: Flims / Laax

    Bus tickets can be bought directly from the driver.

    Frequency: every 30 minutes , travel time: 30–35 min

    Stop: Flims Waldhaus, Segnes - Walk: 2–5 min to Hotel Adula.

Accommodation

  • No, the Frontiers Planet Prize will book and pay for your accommodation for the days you are invited to attend the event. If you require special assistance, please indicate these details in the registration form or email us at awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org.

    Please note that accommodation will only be provided for the duration of the event, and we are unable to accommodate extra nights. Should you wish to extend your stay outside of the duration of the event please reach out to awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org and our team will check hotel availability and rates for you.

  • All guests will be accommodated at Hotel Adula in Flims-Waldhaus.

    Travel time from the hotel to the airport is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, and around 2.5 hours to Davos, depending on traffic and road conditions during the WEF period.

    Organised transport will be provided between the hotel and Davos on the 18th and 19th of January.

General

  • The dress code is smart casual.

    Please note, January is typically very cold in Davos and Flims, with average temperatures ranging from approximately -11°C to -2°C and the chances of snow. We recommend bringing warm winter clothing to ensure your comfort throughout the event.

  • The official language of the Frontiers Planet Prize Award Ceremony is English.

  • Time zone: Switzerland will be under Central European Summer Time (GMT + 1 hour) at the time of the event. You can check the time difference from your country of travel using the World Time Buddy online time converter. Make sure to select the event dates when converting time, as daylight saving time starts on different dates in different countries.

    Electrical plugs: The voltage in Switzerland is 230V/50 Hz, as in most of Europe. Switzerland uses type C (2-pin) and Type J (3-pin) plugs. (Type C 2-pin plugs also fit J sockets.) Most power sockets are designed for three pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied for many electrical travel products, may be used without problem. Adaptors are available in most hotels.

    Languages: German and French are the most widely spoken languages in Switzerland. Many people living in Switzerland also speak English.

    Currency: Switzerland uses the Swiss franc, usually indicated as CHF. Credit cards are widely used across Switzerland.
