Who are the leading sustainability experts who make up the prestigious Jury of 100?
Jury
The Jury of 100 is composed of 100 leading experts in earth system science, sustainability and planetary health, from around the world. Selected by Prof Johan Rockström, they are drawn from a diverse range of disciplines and institutions, embodying transdisciplinarity and diversity of thought. Collectively, their work covers all aspects of planetary boundary research.
With Johan Rockström as chair, the jury will decide on a national champion for each participating country, and out of this pool, will then select the international champions.
The Jury works completely independently from the Frontiers Research Foundation, and values a process that is rigorous, equitable, and transparent, through defining key criteria for evaluation.

Jury of 100
Prof. Dr. Johan Rockström is the Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Professor at the Institute of Earth System Science at the University of Potsdam.
Rockström is an internationally recognized scientist on global sustainability issues, who led the development of the Planetary Boundaries framework for human development in the current era of rapid global change at the Stockholm Resilience Centre. He is a leading scientist on global water resources, with more than 25 years of experience in applied water research in tropical regions, and over 150 research publications in fields ranging from applied land and water management to global sustainability.
Aside from his research helping to guide policy, Rockström consults several governments and business networks. He also acts as an advisor for sustainable development issues at noteworthy international meetings, such as the World Economic Forum, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences (UNFCCC). Supplementary, he chairs the advisory board for the Earth League.
As Chairperson of the Jury of 100 Johan established the Jury and will manage its operations in full independence.
